Tooth Injury!!! What Do I Do Now?

Tooth Injury In Orem!!! What Do I Do Now? If you or your child has been in an accident that has caused an avulsed (knocked out) tooth, don’t panic. You may be able to save it—follow these steps:

  1. Keep the individual calm
  2. Locate the tooth and pick it up by the part that is normally visible from the mouth when in the socket (the crown)
  3. If the tooth is dirty, rinse it for 10 seconds under cold water and if possible reposition it into the socket
  4. If repositioning is not feasible, store the tooth in a suitable liquid, such as milk, saline, saliva from the individual or Hanks balanced storage medium (Do Not Store In Water!)
  5. Call your endodontist and seek immediate dental emergency care.

If the person involved with the trauma is in medical danger, go to the hospital; however, if it is only the tooth that is involved, it is important to go to your endodontist because they are trained in this area and the hospital will not be able to save the tooth. If you are currently facing a traumatic dental injury, Doctor Jon Jensen is an excellent choice and is eager to help you or your child save that tooth. Call us now and we will do all we can to get you in quickly and resolve the emergency.
