There is nothing fun or easy about toothache pain. Whether it’s a dull, persistent ache, a sharp pain, or only happens when you bite and chew, a toothache can get your undivided attention like nothing else. You’ll find effective toothaches relief at Cascade Endodontics in Orem.
There are any number of causes for toothache pain. The most common, by far, is a simple cavity. Cavities, or tooth decay, are caused by bacteria. In the vast majority of cases, getting it drilled and filled is all it takes to cure it.
There are, however, other causes for a toothache:
- Gum disease. This is when the gums are inflamed. The first line of defense against this is a deep cleaning, followed up with a consistent oral hygiene regimen at home.
- Cracked tooth. A cracked tooth can cause a toothache. It doesn’t necessarily mean there is any tooth decay; it might be the result of a sports injury, or biting on a hard object like ice. (Never bite on hard objects!)
- Impacted wisdom teeth. These can also result in a toothache. Because wisdom teeth are way in the back of your mouth, they are hard to reach with a brush, and decay there is common. It’s one reason why most dentists recommend extracting them, most often in your late teens or early twenties.
Whatever the cause of toothache pain might be, never ignore it. Unlike most body parts, teeth do not heal themselves. If you’re suffering with a toothache, call us at Cascade Endodontics in Orem right away.
In addition to toothache relief, Cascade Endodontics in Orem treats traumatic tooth injuries and provides root canals, among other services. Call today to schedule a consultation.
