Dental traumas are divided into two broad categories: fractures and luxation injuries. Fractures include chips and cracks; luxation means a tooth that has been displaced or misaligned. Both are treated regularly at Cascade Endodontics in Orem.
Chipped teeth account for most dental traumas. Fortunately, most of them can be repaired, either by reattaching the broken piece of tooth, or by placing a filling that matches the broken tooth’s color. If a tooth’s crown is broken off, an artificial crown can be used to restore it.
In severe tooth injuries, sometimes the pulp is exposed or damaged. If that happens a root canal may be necessary.
If you have a damaged tooth crown and it is painful to breathe through your mouth or to bite down, contact Cascade Endodontics right away for emergency dental care. And tempting as it might be, do not use any topical oral pain medication on the affected area.
Traumatic tooth injuries can present difficult challenges. Prompt attention by a skilled dental professional is crucial to saving a damaged tooth. At Cascade Endodontics, we have the skill to turn what might appear to be a hopeless situation into a successful outcome. In addition to traumatic injury treatment, we provide toothache relief and sedation dentistry.
