When the interior of a tooth becomes infected, root canal therapy becomes almost inevitable. The infection will not get better on its own. At Cascade Endodontics in Orem we have years of experience performing root canal therapy.
It’s true that a root canal may not be absolutely necessary, but the alternatives are not so great. For the most part the only other option is pulling the tooth. Some people think that with all the advancements made in implant technology this is a viable option. But it is always preferable to keep your natural teeth, for both form and function, and for your wallet.
Start-To-Finish
Every patient is different, but root canals generally involve at least three appointments. It begins with a consultation. Next is an appointment for the procedure itself. Then there is at least one follow-up appointment so we can see how the procedure went, and how your recovery is going.
A tooth restored by a root canal will often need a crown, so that it is fully functional. This will usually require at least one more appointment.
In terms of pain, most patients say the procedure was about the same as having a cavity filled. But everyone has a different threshold. We offer three levels of sedation: nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral conscious sedation (a sedative), and IV sedation.
Remember, a tooth that has been restored with root canal therapy can last a lifetime. At Cascade Endodontics in Orem root canals are our specialty. Please call our office to schedule an appointment today!
