It may be dull or it may be sharp. It may be constant, or it may come and go. However it presents itself, toothache pain is bound to get your attention, and a trip to Cascade Endodontics may be in order.
The most common cause of a toothache is tooth decay. But it could be something more serious, like gum disease, or even an abscessed tooth.
An abscessed tooth happens when the pulp inside the tooth becomes inflamed, and is left untreated. The area around it becomes infected, and is going to need the attention of an endodontist, who may have to perform a root canal.
Root canals have a bad reputation. They aren’t any fun, but like a lot of things, their reputations are worse than the actual procedure. Not all root canals are the same. But in the most basic form, the pulp inside the infected tooth is removed, and the canal area is cleaned and disinfected. Then it is filled, sealed, and capped.
That’s the worst case. It may be that your toothache is the result of an ordinary cavity. That’s no picnic, but a filling from your dentist should take care of it. And it is entirely possible that the toothache is being caused by a non-dental problem, like a sinus infection.
Cascade Endodontics provides toothache relief to its patients, and root canals for those who need one. Patients with dental anxiety may benefit from sedation dentistry. Call our office in Orem to schedule an appointment.
